How does the dishwasher function

The dishwasher is one of the mystery devices in the kitchen. The dishes are put in dirty, the door is closed and you end up receiving clean dishes. How does it work and what is it important to care for?

The dishwasher is one of the busiest electrical appliances in the home of the average Israeli family. Every day you put in the dirty dishes and get shiny, ready-to-use dishes. How does this wonder operate? In short, the dishwasher cleans the dishes by splashing hot water jets and dispersing materials that are able to take apart dirt, clean and polish the dishes. The process includes several steps:

In the first stage, a preliminary rinse with water only, for removing rough dirt such as small food residues and liquids. Hot water is sprayed through sprinklers that spray water jets under pressure on the dishes. The water jets remove some of the dirt. At the end of this stage, some dishes remain with traces of grease and dirt that have not been removed under the water.

The second stage begins the washing using detergents, for removal of persistent stains such as coffee and tea residues, adhered cornflakes, and fat residues. The active ingredient dissolves in water and is sprayed on the dishes with strong pressure. A layer of dirt is removed in each spray until the dishes are entirely clean. At the end of the stage the dirty water is drained through the pipes and the dishes are ready for a final rinse and dry.

During the third stage, the detergent residues are washed away and another active ingredient is released – the ingredient that removes limescale and polishes the dishes, preventing the sinking of the minerals that result in the white stains on the dishes.

The fourth and final stage is drying of the dishes. Hot air is fed into the dishwasher internal space and evaporates the remaining water droplets on the dishes. After the drying, the dishes are clean and shiny.

Highlights for perfect cleanliness:

⦁ ensure that the dishes are sorted according to the instructions of the manufacturer.Optimal arrangement of the dishes such that allows water to reach all the dishes for thorough cleaning.

⦁ ensure that the dishes are dishwasher proof. Plastic dishes that are not hot water proof, extremely fine dishes or dishes containing metals can be damaged during the cleaning. Safe-to-use dishes are usually marked with the following symbols:

⦁ Make sure to use the compartment designated for detergents: whether you chose to use a tablet, liquid or powder, it is important to put the substance in the designated compartment. Substances that are not filled into the designated compartment will dissolve during the first stage and will be drained quickly. A significant portion of the dishwasher operation will be performed without detergent, and stains and food residues may remain on the dishes.

⦁ Whether you are using powder or tablets, make sure to choose a product that combines active ingredients for the removal of various food stains such as coffee and tea stains, fat and food residues. Sano Spark product intended for cleaning of dishes contain an optimal blend of active ingredients for removal of a wide range of stains and their effectiveness has been tested on the dirt that characterizes Israeli cuisine.

Make sure that the water pressure in the area where the dishwasher is installed is intact. Weak water pressure does not allow creating water jets that allow effective cleaning.

How to maintain the dishwasher?

  • Once a month it is recommended to remove the filter that is usually placed at the bottom of the dishwasher and wash it under running water for
removing any food residues that may interfere with its operation. At the same time unload the sprinklers and clean their tiny holes with a toothbrush.

  • Once a month it is recommended to use the dishwasher without any dishes and let it clean itself, to remove the layers of limescale that begin to accumulate. It is recommended to add an anti-kalk solution for dishwasher and washing machine care. You can also activate the dishwasher with vinegar or lemon salt.

  • Each dishwasher has a special compartment that must be filled with a designated dishwasher salt every 10 washes. The salt softens the water and prevents tartar accumulation on the walls of the dishwasher and its filters and is very important to use.
